| Gamakatsu Hooks We carry the two hooks that we use to tie our VIPs and our Mother's Day Flies. We carry them in only once size -- size 4 -- since that is just about the only size we use. See instructions for tying these flies, and then purchase the hooks for making them! As for our spoon fly, we recommend the Gamakatsu 51407 hooks. We have developed a two-colored spoon
fly body -- in four color combos -- that can be tied on the hook of
your choice. However, we also offer the Gamakatsu Shiner Hook (see our hook selection above)
that produces a lightweight, highly effective spoon fly that is
virtually weedless, due to its modified circle-hook shape. The hooks
are, admittedly, much more expensive than the B10S -- another great
choice -- but the weedless feature is worth it if you fish where we do.
You can tie these bodies onto a size 4 or a size 6 hook. The bodies come in packages of 50 for $7.50 a package. Save yourself a lot of time, and get a body that's been proven to work like a charm on the Lower Laguna.

This material is so light, strong and irridescent that it gives new meaning to the word attraction. Reds and trout often take flies dressed with this material "on the drop" - that is, as it enters the water. Flip Pallot line features a
longer
belly for moderate distance casts, and easy loading. The Lefty Kreh
line is a distance
line,
which is my favorite. They have a nice stiffness, but do not coil up
like
some of the "tropic lines." A superior saltwater line at a great price.
